Acting
Through Movement Instructor:
Mark-Brian Sonna Saturdays, July 11 - August 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. (6 weeks) at the ArtCentre of Plano
In this six week course,
you will learn the method of character development via physicalization. While
many actors focus on the internal and emotional mechanism of acting, it is also
essential for the audience to be able to visualize and thus experience the character
as a separate entity from the actor. In this class, we will focus on methods of
getting in touch with the use of the body, the development of a character's physical
portrait, the development of physical tics or traits indicative of the character,
and how physicalization can affect the emotional state of the character, thereby
creating a convincing physical presence in which the actor disappears behind the
character. The class will include a low impact, body strengthening warm-up at
the beginning of each session, allowing the actor to become more limber and flexible
and gain control of the body. At the end of the course, all actors will perform
a monologue and/or scene.

Master
Class Perfecting
the Monologue Instructor:
Mark-Brian Sonna Saturdays, September 26 and October 3 from 1:00 to 4:00
p.m. (Master Class) at the ArtCentre of Plano
This two week intensive
course is designed to strengthen the actor's ability to deliver a fluid, convincing,
and emotionally resounding monologue. Actors will learn proper ways of phrasing,
how to develop a monologue arc, and how to maintain an audience's interest. Actors
will also be coached on the dreaded "two minute monologue" that is frequently
required at auditions. All actors that wish to take the course should have two
monologues prepared: a two minute monologue and a five to seven minute monologue.
The end of the class will include a showcase of the monologues presented to an
audience and other theatre professionals.

Acting
in Charge: Treading the Boards to Address the Board Instructor:
Rick Tuman Thursdays, October 15 - November 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (4
weeks) at the ArtCentre of Plano
From time to time, each of us has
been called-upon to "get up and say a few words." The request to do
so may evoke both delight and shock as one is handed this "honor." This
workshop is geared to those who speak publicly on an occasional or regular basis,
to those who are in line for or desire positions where public speaking of some
type will be a part of their duties, and to those who just want to feel more confident
when addressing a group. Using theatre performance techniques and exercises (breathing,
body language, enunciation, and improvisation, monologue or scene work), including
gentle but honest feedback from the instructor and workshop participants, this
workshop will help prepare you for the on-the-spot request as well as preparing
you in advance for your big moment. No experience is necessary. This workshop
will culminate with each student having the opportunity to "present themselves"
to a gathering of invited guests.

Grateful for what these disciplines have taught her, and the amazing people that
have helped her along the way, she has enjoyed acting in L.A. and Plano, teaching,
