Understudy Showcase
When
a production company takes on such an intense
script that demands so much
from such a small cast,
it is a huge gamble.
These wonderful talented
individuals make such a risky
investment possible. They learn the lines, attend
the rehearsals,
learn the dialects - in short, tote all the same barges and
lift
all the same bales as the primary cast just in case something
bad happens.
That can be a thankless task, but it is an
invaluable contribution to a company
like ours.
On one matinee during the run, by invitation only, our
safety
nets got their chance to shine for their friends, family,
and some enthusiastic
local theater folk.
Even one thrilled season ticket holder showed up on
that day
previously billed as the matinee before the venue had to move the
run
by a week. So when we discovered her afterwards, we thanked her
and
apologized that this cast and crew were not the regular run,
She quizzically
asked "So how could that have possibly been any better?"
Our
sentiments exactly.
Thanks all.
